Mr Khan has been a full time consultant Plastic surgeon since 2002. He trained in the London region and undertook a trauma fellowship in Sydney, Australia before taking up a consultant job in Charing Cross Hospital, London.
Mr Khan moved to Bristol in 2006 where he is currently Ortho-Plastic lead surgeon. He has developed a world leading service for acute severe limb trauma; and runs this with 5 other consultants (3 ortho and 2 plastics). He is a visiting Professor to the Alama Iqbal Medical School and Jinnah Hospital, Lahore where he has mentored the microsurgery service over the past 12 years.
Mr Khan has authored many leading papers on the subject of Ortho-Plastics and was co-author to the book ‘Standards in the Management of Open Lower Limb Fractures’ a joint publication between the British Orthopaedic Association and British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). Mr Khan was also lead on the book ‘Pathways in the Management of Prosthetic Joint Infection’ published in 2018.
Mr Khan is now Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Orthoplastic Surgery, a dedicated journal for conditions requiring Ortho-Plastic principles and techniques.
Mr Khan has been a member of the Specialty Advisory Committee (SAC) and is an examiner for the FRCS (Plast). Mr Khan has been the Chair of Education of BAPRAS and is currently the Honorary Secretary elect.
